Today we will have a look at a company which make Luxurious Cars as well Commercial Vehicles. The company is one of the top three automobile manufacturers in the world with 2.8 million units sold in 2020. They are a German multinational automotive corporation founded in 2007. Before that they were known as Daimler Chrysler and Daimler Benz. Currently the company is led by Ola Källenius who is the chairman of the board of Management and the headquarters is in Mercedesstraße, Stuttgart, Germany.  Daimler AG is one of top automobile manufacturers in the world. They have 15 subsidiaries Mercedes Benz, AMG, Maybach, Mercedes-Eq, Freightliner, Fuso, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses, Bharat Benz, Setra, Mercedes me, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, Mercedes-Benz Bank, Daimler Truck Financial and Athlon.

The company produced more than 2.8 million vehicles in 2020 alone, across their range of Passenger Cars, Trucks, Vans, & Buses. Daimler AG has 59 manufacturing facilities across the world and sell products to every country on earth.  The history of the company began in 1886 when Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz both invented automobiles powered by the high-speed combustion engine.  The first vehicle was sold under Daimler Motoren-Gesellschaft or D.M.G. in 1890.You may notice there was no Mercedes or Benz in the company name at the time Entrepreneur and racing enthusiast.  Emil Jellinek was brought on to help create the Mercedes 35hp in 1900. Jellinek named the new cars after his daughter, Mercédès, whose name in Spanish translates as mercy. The company trademarked the name in 1902. 

Benz & Cie get the rights to Benz in 1909. 

In 1925 two brands merged and the registered brands Daimler, Mercedes and the “Good Star” logo. The very first hybrid vehicle was developed by Mercedes Benz back in 1906  where gasoline is used to generate electricity to drive electric motors.  Mercedes Benz was the first to provide brakes on all four wheels in 1924 and suspension on each corner of the vehicle in 1931.

The company made the first ever diesel car the 260D in 1936 Mercedes Benz first developed a self driving car in 1995 and it drove over 1000 miles with the top speed of 115 mph. Mercedes and Bosch developed the first anti-lock braking system in 1978. The number in the model describes the displacement of the engine of the model. The A class is a compact front drive vehicle, B class has more powerful engine, C & E classes are larger and more expensive S class is a Sedan, G & M classes are SUV and SL light sports models Mercedes Benz offers more than 40 models in various categories. 

Pope Benedict the 16th’s official automobile ‘The Popemobile’ was a Mercedes Benz. The first car in Nepal was Mercedes Benz which was gifted to the King in 1940 Mercedes follows one man one engine policy in manufacturing as each engine is hand built and hand tuned by single engineer. The United States of America has the most Mercedes Benz car owners in the world.
